CASTING TIPS
When you walk in...
Everyone will have their eyes on you the moment you enter the building. Always without exception, treat everyone with respect and kindness no matter who they are. You will be shocked at times who is the real decision maker at a casting. It could be the youngest person in the room, someone mopping the floor, or the person delivering food or coffee. Many times the person who is conducting the interview is not the person with the power of decision.
Never gossip
Never share or agree with someone's negative opinion of any person, photo, or design. (people play games to test models to see if you are a gossip or if you may say something bad about them if asked by someone else.) Be professional.
Opinions
If asked if you like a photographer or other talent you shot with it’s best to keep your reply in relation to the experience you had at the shoot. For example, say you had a great time on the shoot or it was a fun day. Do not give your artistic opinion. It is not your place to share such information. Be neutral, kind, thankful and appreciative.
Never ask the client if you have the job
The client will contact your booker if they want to book you. Your booker will contact you if there was any feedback good and/or constructive.
Never contact the client directly or give them your phone number
Doing so is unprofessional and can cause awkward confusing situations. Your agent is the client’s go to source for communication regarding work. What you do personally on a social level is not our concern. Keep all business related communication going through your agent/booker.
Always
Sincerely thank the client and wish them a great day. Be real, avoid fake forced comments.
Don't gab
Be alert and listen intently to what the client says to you. NEVER take negative criticism personally. Share anything that upsets or concerns you with your booker/agent immediately. Do not share upsetting information with any other model or person in the industry until you speak to your agent. We will help you properly evaluate and interpret the comment. People in this industry can be very insensitive at times. Trust us to be honest and supportive with you.
An attitude of no expectations makes castings so much more enjoyable and helps allow your natural personality to shine.
